Due to the pandemic and other social crises, the current situation in schools has many parents in a state of confusion and fear of what the future holds for their young sons. If this is your current state of mind, you are in the right company. In addition, you, like some parents, may be feeling anxious about these issues because you do not yet have the knowledge and skills needed to build a firm educational foundation at home.

Don’t let fear grip you from doing all you can to advocate for your son and ensure his success. You do not have to be an expert. You just have to be involved and dedicated. As a parent of black sons, I understand how you feel. That’s why I created the “Raising Brilliant Black & Brown Boys” workshop.

As an educator for over 35 years, I have also seen the struggles our black and brown boys encounter at school that can be discouraging both to them and to us as parents who desire the best for them. My purpose through this workshop is to help parents like you establish better relationships with your sons and their teachers through excellent communication and supportive advocacy practices.

I want to partner with you and share strategies, practices, and resources that will support your parenting journey. The major goals are to work hand in hand to close the literacy gaps among black and brown males as well as dismantle the school-prison pipeline.
